Space Indaver’s Pile of Shame

If anyone asks, I’m writing this as a sort of ‘getting to know you’ post. The idea is that readers can get inside my brain and have a proper dig around. Just don’t go in the door marked “Program Files\Some boring program you can ignore, Dad. Move along\jpegs”.

But if I’m being honest, my intentions are purely selfish. For as much as I profess to love games, and spend my days lavishly showering them with made-up adjectives, I barely finish any of them. Ever, really. Very few come to mind. The Fable games, Uncharted 2, Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy, several careers in Total War/Civ/Football Manager games, and… that’s about where the list recollection starts to stutter.

So while I’d like to say I’m spilling my soul on to this digital page in order to give myself to the reader, that would be bullshit. I’m doing this for me. And I’m doing this to you can poke and prod me on Twitter into actually finishing some of these things. (We might also be starting a podcast soon, aimed at doing pretty much the same thing. Isn’t it great to be me?!)

So here we go. Here’s the (incomplete, trust me) list of games that I could – and should – be making an effort to finish in the near future.

  • Toy Soldiers
  • L.A. Noire
  • Alan Wake
  • Portal
  • Portal 2
  • All the good levels on that bastarding never-ending Portal 2 Steamworks thing
  • Lara Croft: Guardian of Light
  • Super Mario, Galaxies
  • Sonic Colours
  • Lock’s Quest
  • Asura’s Wrath
  • The Laytons Professor
  • Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective
  • 999
  • Heavy Rain
  • Infamous 2
  • Uncharted 3
  • Valkyria Chronicles
  • Disgaea
  • Trine
  • Trine 2
  • Rochard
  • Orcs Must Die
  • Puzzle Agent: Nelson Tethers
  • Puzzle Agent 2: Nelson Tetherser

Which I suppose leads us on to the question, what the bloody hell will Dave be playing this weekend? The answer is, of course: “More Battlefield, some of that Quantum Conundrum, and Men of War: Assault Squad. Balls to your pile.”
